Growing up, I remember my grandmother saving each and every button in a glass jar. I’m sure we all owned a collection like that, and wasn’t it incredibly fun to study their different shapes and sizes?! If you’d ever lose a button you’d have a random one that could take it’s place! Not only did my grandmother keep them for this purpose but she would also sew them on new clothing items in colourful patterns and designs, just to make them more fun.  Throughout the years these buttons became lucky charms, something much more special than what they were intended for!

This inspired me to create the button necklaces. The silver button is set with four gorgeous red garnets, ready to become your lucky charm!

THE OTHER MOTHER

I essentially grew up with three mothers. My mom and my two grandmothers. A Spanish one from my father’s side and an Indonesian one from my mother’s side. I experienced an explosion of culture, stories, soul food and unwavering love. They created an idyllic universe which felt safe and comforting. One that was always there when we faced the storms of life together.

I recently lost my last living grandmother and during this grieving process I decided to create a collection inspired by my memories of them as ‘the other mothers’. Each piece tells a small part of my story, with a sprinkle of Coraline* aesthetic. The designs are meant to hold on to memories and give comfort.

Little mending kits for broken hearts, precious stones to dry your tears but most importantly something to remind you of a warm and loving place.
