Persephone’s Gift
Inspired by Greek Mythology, I designed a potion bottle called ‘Persephone’s Gift’. It holds the essence of changing seasons and in particular the one we call Spring. The Mythology of Persephone is where Garnet first came to being because of the little Pomegranate seeds Hades fed his wife. The gleaming red fruit bound her to the underworld for half of the year! Persephone’s mother Demeter, who is the goddess of fertility and everything that grows, couldn’t hide her sadness and anger of losing her daughter. For the time Persephone spend in the underworld, Demeter would stop all fertility on earth resulting in autumn and winter.
This pendant features two drop shaped garnets and a diamond shaped onyx which is adorned with a rope bow! It hangs from a 45 cm/ 18″ satellite chain.
Boticario de Maravillas
Whenever I think of an old fashioned Apothecary, I imagine myself going through the drawers and shelves of a big wooden cabinet. It is filled with wondrous bottles of tonics, potions and bits of healing magic. I study the contents of the oddly shaped vials while I run my fingers over the handwritten labels. The sound, of me rummaging trough the different glass bottles, opening the heavy drawers and something brewing over there, is soothing my soul.
I hope that will be me one day! In the meantime I decided to create a couple Apothecary inspired pieces with this dream in mind. Each jewel is influenced by the curious items found in the cabinet and tells a subtle story about the featured gemstones.
