Barong Ring with Garnet and Kyanite
The Barong, which is a mythical creature in the Indonesian folklore, inspired me to create the Barong Ring with Garnet and Kyanite! He is the king of the spirits and a symbol of good fortune. The name Barong stems from the Indonesian word for ‘Bear’ but it’s hard to pin point what type of being he really is as his appearance varies. It mainly refers to a good spirit that took the form of an animal as the guardian of the forest.
The ornaments that surround the bright coloured gemstone are influenced by the masks used to portray the Barong. This design captures his spirit as your personal guardian.
Two stone options (Hessonite Garnet and Green Kyanite) are available in the dropdown menu below. This design rests on a double snake skin band and is finished in the buyers size!
Dance of the Barong
For this new collection I explored the wondrous world of Indonesian mythology and their ritualistic ways of storytelling. Delicate dance movements and shadow plays, accompanied by Gamelan music, pass on the rich legends and history to new generations. The most popular theme is ‘good versus evil’ and it offers a unique combination of ritual, lesson and entertainment.
Inspired by everything I discovered during this journey I created a collection of jewels, each meant to tell a small part of the folklore mixed with my personal style and love for storytelling.
The Barong Ring is ready for shipment within 5 – 7 days.
